The TI Fellowship is designed to give participants a sense of  all aspects of life as a young Jewish professional living in Memphis. Up to 16 outstanding individuals will be selected to participate. The TI Fellowship is perfect for young Jewish adults – whether originally from Memphis or a potential transplant to Memphis – who want a head start on beginning a career in a great city that not only offers ample opportunity for career advancement, but also the chance to make a profound difference in the lives of others. If you like to have fun, and if you are interested in spending the summer in an awesome city while gaining valuable professional exposure and access to opportunities for service and learning, all as part of a strong community of other Jewish young adults, then the TI Fellowship program is for you!

Each TI Fellow will receive a stipend for the successful completion of all required program components. However, TI Fellows that are placed with work experience opportunities that pay directly will receive reduced stipends from the TI Fellowship. These instances will be handled on case-by-case basis.

Professional Experience

All TI Fellows will participate in a full-time internship in the Memphis area. The TI Fellowship has numerous high-quality internship opportunities in a variety of industries that are pre-approved to qualify for the Internship component of the TI Fellowship.  If you do not see an area of your interest or a particular opportunity available, let us know.  The TI Fellowship actively works with entities in Memphis to find a good fit for each Fellow.  Please email us about any and all questions related to the qualification of internships.

The TI Fellowship will provide free housing in hip areas of Memphis. TI Fellows will live with one another in houses and/or apartments with between two and four fellows of the same sex per residence.

Professional Development & Jewish Learning

The TI Fellowship will include professional development and Jewish learning programs, for example but not necessarily including:

  • Resumé workshops
  • Careerbuilding advice/counseling
  • Sessions on being a young professional in Memphis
  • Panel discussions on Jewish business ethics with local Jewish professionals and/or local Rabbis
Social Action and Community Service

The TI Fellowship will include opportunities for community service and social action projects, which will include volunteering with local communal organizations to help those in need, as well as programs on Memphis-based social action issues (literacy, income inequality, food insecurity, the education gap, etc.)

Last, but certainly not least, the TI Fellowship has many components designed to show the Fellows how much fun it can be to be a young Jewish professional in Memphis. The TI Fellowship will include social events, for example, but not necessarily including:

  • Social events hosted by young Jewish professionals that live in Memphis
  • Shabbat services at Temple Israel followed by a social gathering
  • Sports events (i.e. Memphis Redbirds AAA baseball games)
  • Book clubs (well, probably not…but maybe!)
